International Surfing Day, held annually on or near the date of the summer solstice, is an unofficial, environmentally conscious sports-centered holiday that celebrates the sport of surfing and the surfing lifestyle and the sustainability of ocean resources. We invite all beachgoers and surf enthusiasts (beginner to advanced) to join us for a wonderful and meaningful day at the beach. Together, we’ll celebrate our 18th anniversary of this annual surfers’ holiday by raising awareness and sharing education about the issues that affect our oceans while showing appreciation for our coastal environments and surfing.
Schedule of Events:
8:30 am – 8:45 am: Registration and Check-in for Free Introductory Group Surf Lesson. Pre-online registration is recommended as space is limited and spots fill quickly. Participants must know how to swim.
9:00 am – 10:30 am: Brick Lifeguard Ocean Safety and Beach Orientation and Coastline Adventures Free Introductory Group Surf Lesson! Equipment provided.
10:30 am – 11:00 am: Surfrider Foundation Environmental Discussion and Beach Clean Up
- Requirement: Participants MUST know how to swim. Surfing is a physical sport and if you have any concerns about the participant’s swimming and/or fitness level, please contact us.
- If the weather is good but the ocean conditions are unfavorable or dangerous, we will still offer all of our scheduled activities except the water portion of the surf lesson (land activities only). In the event of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled with no rain date.
